Castillo de Villasobroso
It is a medieval castle which presides the legendary village named Villasobroso, settled in a natural base inside the term of Villasobroso’s town local authority, into Mondariz’s municipality (Pontevedra, Spain). In 1117, Lady Urraca was enclosed into this castle by the supporters of her son and also by her sister Teresa de León, but she got managed to escape and to return to Santiago de Compostela, as it is reported in Santiago de Compostela´s History.
At present Sobroso´s Castle finds itself in optimal preservation conditions and its property is owned by Puenteareas’s Town hall. The Castle is seven kilometres away from Villa de Tea.
The Castle turned into a place that shows medieval life including other areas such as a traditional rural house, and ethnographic Museum dedicated to handicraft exhibitions, a Galician Suit Museum and a center to recover traditional culture. In the surroundings there are sixty six arboreal autochthonous species, mainly of oaks and cork trees.
